Life Outside: #3, The College

My first day at college, I was riding on a high.

I loved the feel of the air.

“Which year are you in” a student asked me.

“My first day here,” was my response.

“Oh, you look as though you are an older student here.”

That was how comfortable I felt.

I saw the principal sitting at his office,

And walked in, greeted him, and when he invited me,

sat down to chat with him.

When my class picked a prefect, they picked me.

“How old are you?” they started asking me.

“Why do you ask?” I responded and did not tell them my age.

“Because you look like a sixteen year old and behave like a thirty five year old.”

Their response left me amused, it came to me, none of them would stroll into the principal’s office, and sit down to chat casually with him.

My class lecturer loved me,

As I tend to do, I started engaging the lecturers in an exchange with us, breaking the monotony of the class.

Classes in Malaysia tend to be very serious.

Everything looks perfect.

Again, once things settle, other things start perking up.
